Başak Çalışır ,born in İstanbul 1984, graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting. The artist, who participated in various group exhibitions, still continues work in Istanbul. The artist, who mostly works in oil and watercolor on canvas, paints from an archive of images collected from sources such as photographs, old magazines, catalogs and books that she encountered while surfing the internet trash. Seemingly ordinary photographic moments are sublimated by the artist's re- presentation. Sometimes a little incongruous, imperfect, messy, but “beautiful” like everything that is itself, she aims to capture a new perspective and a subtle mood in the viewer by moving these images to another aesthetic plane.
