Martch Art Project is presenting the group exhibition titled "Emergency Kit for Dummies," curated by T. Melis Golar, opening to the public on Monday, September 15. The exhibition focuses on individual escape routes from chaotic situations such as cascading natural disasters, pandemics, and social crises. The practical and creative proposals of the artists do not offer an alternative to emergency kits; rather, they reimagine these kits as an exit strategy — a survival plan.
Our instincts work hand in hand with our capacity for quick thinking and creative problem-solving. Economic crises can pave the way for new social models. Without requiring an apocalyptic scenario, the exhibition explores the knowledge, tools, and equipment needed to stay afloat amid today’s misfortunes. These proposals point not only to the conditions necessary for physical survival, but also to mental and emotional resilience. Because the dystopian scenarios of the future are no longer fiction — they are our reality.
Bringing together the idea of functional production, the exhibition features “life-saving kits” as tools of survival and adaptation.
